AeroPress
Quick, clean, and easy to carry. One great cup in two minutes.

The AeroPress is a plastic tube with a plunger: you steep the coffee, then press it through a small paper filter. It is fast, forgiving and nearly unbreakable, which makes it good for travel and for one cup.
You need
- An AeroPress and a paper filter
- 15 g of coffee for 210 ml of water
Steps
- Put the filter in the cap, rinse it with hot water, and screw it on.
- Set the AeroPress on a sturdy cup. Add the coffee, then the water.
- Stir for 10 seconds, insert the plunger slightly to stop it dripping, and wait 1½ minutes.
- Press down slowly for about 30 seconds. Stop when you hear a hiss.
Tips
- Pressing too hard makes it bitter and is tiring. Steady and gentle is enough.
- For a stronger, espresso-like shot, use less water (about 1:8) and top up with hot water or milk.
- Clean-up is easy: unscrew the cap and push the puck of grounds into the compost.
